XXX- The Return of Xander Cage

Reegs: Welcome to Bad Dad's Film Review, the podcast for armchair enthusiasts, not in a J. D. Vance kind of way. This week's theme is all about the letter X, so prepare for an episode filled with everything X related you'd ever need. Excitement, expletives, a little bit of excrement, and some extremely mediocre puns.

First up, of course, we'll be discussing our top five Xs, before we take a look back at 2017's XXX Return of Xander Cage. A 12 certificate movie here in the UK definitely written for and possibly even by a 12 year old boy and it sees Vin Diesel reprising his role as the nipple tattered extreme sports super spy.

And as if that's not enough punishment for you, we're also subjecting ourselves to X Men 97 and hoping that Disney didn't completely butch butcher our beloved mutants. Or butcher

Dan: butchers

Cris: Boocher. Yeah,

Reegs: don't boot you. All that's left to do is introduce the sorry excuses for dads on this show, starting with the must be near his expiration date Dan,

smelling

this evening of mothballs and regret.

Dan: My aftershave

Reegs: We've got handsome Chris, and of course we've got Sidey you're gearing up for your next amazing adventure, aren't you? You do these kind of things, taking on the challenge of rowing all of the UK's river Um, you said training with the team was fantastic this week, but you were a little disappointed at the size of their cocks.

Sidey: Yeah. Yeah.

Reegs: A little rowing joke for about one person out there. And then there's me, Riggs. Hello. Have

Sidey: Hello

Cris: hello.

Dan: Have you been watching anything, Riggs, this week? Anything exciting?

Reegs: No, just the homework this week.

Dan: Okay. Yeah, I'll tell you what i've tried to watch I did the homework. Not fully so you'll find that out in the top five.

But I I just keep watching west wing over and over again. It's like 45 minutes Each one leads into another it's not It doesn't end on a cliffhanger. You can end after one.

Sidey: Have you watched the Sopranos?

Dan: you watched still

Sidey: they're still watching repeats and watch

Dan: Yeah! I know! I'm still watched going back

Sidey: Damn you.

Dan: I know! It's so annoying. I do need to invest in one of those other shows too. But it's just such a warm, easy place. I love all the characters. I'm going, Oh, I can't say Toby! It's silly, but there you go. That's basically been my week. Other than little bits of the Olympics which has been absolutely brilliant.

The break dancing taught me

Reegs: was fantastic, wasn't it?

Cris: What?

Dan: another level. Did you see it, Chris? The break, the Australian.

Cris: didn't see anything. I was working 12 hours a day

Dan: Okay, so obviously, breakdancing is a huge Olympic sport but it's been taken to a new level with the Aussie.

Sidey: The

Raygun.

Dan: The ray gun, yeah.

Cris: Is that, they do that at the Olympics, the breakdancing?

One

Sidey: and only time.

never

Dan: be done again. It's been spoiled.

Sidey: it doing there? But we

did treat us to the

ray gun.

It's

Dan: If you haven't seen

Cris: someone

Sidey: an

Australian

girl. I think she's like a scholar. She's a

Reegs: She's a doctor of funkonomics, I think.

Dan: and cultural appreciation and dance

Sidey: she

got no, she scored zero.

Cris: All right, so someone just decided, I've seen the same,

Sidey: She did actually have some moves, but she does some that I just laugh

Cris: All right. I didn't see that. I've seen, however, the,

Sidey: turkish dude,

Cris: there was some, I've seen the Turkish dude. I've seen the guy obviously with his cock. The French guy and I've seen the Some, and I don't want to upset any Muslim people or whatever, a lady fully covered in a, in she did the, I think it was 400 meters, ladies or something like that and, or 200.

Reegs: a hijab.

Cris: Yeah, she was wearing the hijab and all that, but she finished like 45 seconds after everyone else.

Sidey: Yeah, there's, there was one of the there's a few examples that people were quite a long way back in this crowd was to really

turn him on.

Cris: No, it was good, but it was like that with breakdancing. I get

Sidey: Cause there is, I thought a qualifying.

Dan: Standard.

Sidey: remember There's always been, there's like Eric the

eel, there was a sprinter who was like just so bad

Dan: swimmers

Sidey: That was Eric the eel. Yeah,

Dan: there's but

it's been absolutely fantastic. You haven't

Cris: the rest of it from what I've seen and pictures and I don't know all that stuff. It's apparently really good. You've got a new great blonde Hope in England for running.

Sidey: It's Not hope

she did

  1. she did it.

Cris: But I know, but like she's only young. So she's,

Sidey: Yeah, she's 22.

Cris: the new.

face of England and

Reegs: Legs

Cris: That boy

Reegs: be better. It's the legs of England.

Dan: Yeah.

Cris: Legs, okay. Sorry, but that boy fucked it. He was so arrogant and he fucked it your boy from England or from the UK I don't know

Dan: have to give

Sidey: The 400 meters.

Cris: Some runner, I don't know he was so arrogant and he kept talking shit with this other Norwegian guy and then they

Sidey: oh no, that was

just the ginger

guy.

Cris: Yeah, the ginger

Sidey: Brion fucked him a bit there. The guy, the Yank guy ran a three second personal best. No one's

expecting that.

Cris: I don't care. He fucked

  1. He was so arrogant, he fucked

it.

Dan: it. I started

Sidey: watching

the Umbrella Academy season Four. 'cause I've watched

all the other ones.

Dan: How would, how's that? I've never seen any of that.

Sidey: I would say each series gets a little bit worse, but, right. This one, it's only a six episode series.

because they're all I don't want to say they're all even that big stars, but they probably just don't want to do it anymore.

There was also, there's been loads of reports of toxic behavior from the showrunners and stuff, and I fucking know, you just can't no one can do anything without being cunts these days. But

first episode was pretty boring, second

scene and there's only five to go And I have seen loads of reports that it's fucking terrible, but I will finish it

just to see. Because

I quite enjoyed the rest of the series Other than that it was just homework

Dan: just your homework

Reegs: Yeah, same as before nothing. Let's get, why don't we, did we get any

Sidey: we got a few noms for last week, which was

top 5 insects one we missed

which is like a glaring omission, but

Reegs: was waiting for somebody to nominate it.

Sidey: nominate it. Thought that, thankfully, Breachy put it up. It's not the bees moment from the terrible I it's terrible

Reegs: The Wicker Man.

Sidey: wicker man remake with Nick Cage. Not the Uh, Darren Loosley goes niche with a brilliant French cartoon minuscule.

That has many insects, ladybirds, flies, dragonflies, beetles.

There's a few series and a couple of films.

I think he's, trying to

Dan: series and

Sidey: possible nomination.

Dan: of

films. Are you nodding? Man vs. Oh my lord, can you remember that? It was each episode more torturous

Reegs: than the

Sidey: talking about it

Dan: Let's do that.

X Factor.

That's not what I meant to say.

Sidey: It could be. one though. I've got it on the list.

Dan: you've got X factor. Yeah, I,

Sidey: on this, the

Dan: This is where you're going to see my lack of X knowledge. Isn't as strong as yours, but

Sidey: So you're going for a literal

Dan: I'm going X files. And I've started to watch this again,

Sidey: I did as well

Cris: well, the X

Dan: The X files, it's all, they're all up again and from

Sidey: what should be for the Exfil?

Cris: be for the X Files? Scott, and then probably

Sidey: and then I probably stopped even before 'cause it

Robert Patrick comes in, doesn't he? When

When Molder left I didn't see any of those and then I picked up

the, when they

brought him back.

for

really disappointing

Season back. 'cause I saw the two films. No, this is another series.

Reegs: serious. Yeah. And it was shit, wasn't it? I

Sidey: has an alien baby and stuff.

Yeah

Reegs: think I was only really a casual X Files fan to be

Dan: completed. No, I

Sidey: was one of those series, It was on

like the cusp of the internet and it was

Super nerdy. Yeah. Where

it was all message boards and stuff about it. and probably reddits and stuff.

Dan: I really enjoyed it was,

Sidey: it went on too long didn't it

Reegs: like, it wasn't like literally everybody on social media just throwing around conspiracy theories like it is now. So

Sidey: I think there were message boards with

Reegs: theorists and stuff, it was like a bit more interesting back then, wasn't it?

Maybe you wanted to believe it a little bit more

Sidey: to believe.

yeah.

like the

poster.

Dan: That's what it was.

Reegs: I remember seeing the first movie, it was virtually incomprehensible to anybody who hadn't seen a, an episode of,

Sidey: seen an episode of

Reegs: Yeah.

Nobody

Dan: was going to see the film

Sidey: already ogled

Dan: OD'd on the series because it was the biggest thing

Sidey: on TV

Dan: Yeah, they're both great actors that went on to do other

Reegs: Do they kiss in one of the movies or they're about to

Sidey: kiss Yeah, they fall in a relationship, I think. there's tons of fan fiction on

the internet. If

Dan: hard not to

Reegs: On your hard drive

Dan: that When you're into that kind of cop relationship, they're partnering up, they're spending long hours

Sidey: But she was the the scientific

Reegs: skeptical one. He was

Sidey: he was the wide eye believer. Yeah.

His daughter, there's no, his Sister had been abducted.

wasn't it?

Dan: right. And that was one of the ones that I watched that he found his sister. Yeah. So I've not gone from season one, episode one. I skipped right along. Again, just to see some of the ones that I hadn't seen from back in

the day. Yeah. So XFiles,

Reegs: that's my

X Files. And what was the other one called? There was a second one, wasn't

Cris: x factor

Reegs: I want, X Files, I Want to Believe, Yes,

Sidey: Yes, with the movie. Yeah.

Dan: Yeah, and they had a couple of I'm

going to hand over to you, Chris.

Cris: Is it me? Yes. Fuck yeah, okay. I am, I'm going to jump from the X Files to the X Games. we're on the topic of games. And I'm not going to make a list of all the games that are at the X Games. But X stands for Xtreme Sports and you have all sorts of BMX and,

Sidey: But it ties

in nicely

with the movie. as well.

Cris: with what?

Oh, yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I don't know if anyone ever watched

any X games. I watched when I was working in Cyprus a long time ago. There was the X. I think they have an X channel. It's a channel of just extreme sports where you can get all this like People jumping off cliffs and like random shit people jump drinking beer on airplane and then jumping without a parachute someone has them

Sidey: you know

Cris: know all that is honestly it's amazing and then because it was free and I didn't really have the money to pay for a full it was just like on terrestrial tv and I did watch a few editions of the x games and some of the sports are a bit out there but it was quite good actually some of it was quite good and That's an XI don't think they made a movie out of it outta the X Games, but

Sidey: games, but they even talk about it, so in the movie we watched,

he references Dogtown

and Z Boys. Yeah.

Which was when the surfers started to take over the skating, and

then

the skating, Tony Hawk then was in the That could

Dan: the Bone Brigade,

Sidey: Brigade, which came out at the end of

that, and he was obviously big into starting the X

Games and all that.

so It's all intertwined.

Cris: So they have it. Yeah. Over to you, Riggs.

Reegs: I saw earlier this year two of director Ty West's film series that starts with the movie X. It's a slasher homage to, a little bit Texas Chainsaw Massacre esque, about a group of people who go to a secluded place.

Country barn to make a porn film and a kind of offed by the elderly couple who have issues of their own and then cleverly the sequel to that explores is the actor who plays the old woman is actually this terrific young English actor called me a goth and she plays that person in the prequel pearl afterwards and then there's a sequel to the original movie X called Maxine, which I haven't seen.

Yeah, but I am led to believe is really good. And as a sort of a little trilogy of slasher horror film films, but doing something a bit different cause the second one is it's like, it's got a sort of retro style inspired by Hollywood musicals and melodramas of the 1950s. So it is something a little bit different and chilly

Sidey: Was thinking sometimes about ex girlfriends or ex Partners. I don't know if you know, but I quite You Like a bit of buffy the vampire slayer. season one. There's a lot of flirting and well, they won't they with buffy

and,

Angel

And Because she's a slayer and he's a vampire and they do get it on and they do

fuck, but fuck makes him So he's a vampire

with a soul, he goes back to full baddie after they do it.

And they are exes then, and then the rest of the drive of the series, while he's in

it is them

having to battle it out.

It's a tragic tale of love and loss

She kills him

Dan: when that,

Cris: that

happens. I thought it was gonna turn him gay, but

Sidey: No.

Cris: Sadly.

Dan: Sadly. I've found another one here that I've watched and it's got an X in it.

American History

Reegs: Yeah, it's right there at the end.

Dan: Yeah, right there at the end. It's a harsh film, this, actually. It wasn't an easy, Watch him again, as I remember it was,

Reegs: It's not a comedy, no. It's not

Dan: a comedy.

Sidey: It's redemption. y sort of

Cris: It's got a nice kind of hap I wouldn't say happy ending, but it's a, it's like a nice, you

Dan: one point where he's stamping on

Sidey: Yeah, there's

Cris: the guy on the pavement. Yeah, I remember.

Dan: That's where my mind goes. But Ed norton, played a rather scary character in this.

Cris: Skinhead, no. Yeah, Who

Dan: who you know has that arc doesn't either? But

Sidey: He's trying to stop his, he's trying to stop his little

brother going down the

same path, isn't he? yeah,

Dan: And there it is x

Cris: Does the brother die in the end? I'm

Reegs: He becomes a Nazi as well, I know

Cris: Yeah, I know, and

Reegs: how the movie ends. Does he die? He might do. It's Edward Furlong, isn't it,

Sidey: think he does, yeah, maybe it's

Cris: pretty sure he dies at the end. It's

just,

Sidey: a book report about Mein Kampf, doesn't he, and he gets a sort of, lesson from his teacher about not being a

prick.

Cris: Yeah which is quite sad in that movie.

I've got a there's a list on the internet with ex criminals that became actors.

Reegs: Oh yeah, that's

Cris: And one of my favorite ones, there's loads of them. There's Nick Nolte, there's Will Smith, my mate there's Danny Trejo, who has got a famous story that he just got out of prison, auditioned for a role.

And then they asked him, Oh, do you think you can play an inmate?

Sidey: Yeah,

Reegs: That

Cris: I was one for the last 10 years

Reegs: years or something.

Cris: Marky Mark, he was charged with assault, but he is one that you probably won't think that he was convicted for a dangerous crime. Stephen Fry

Sidey: Oh, really?

What'd he do? credit

Cris: crud credit card fraud.

Reegs: Really?

Sidey: really?

Cris: Yeah. So

that's that's an ex, I don't know criminal who has become an actor.

Reegs: Yeah,

Cris: Hopefully that count.

Sidey: Yeah, definitely.

Cris: Okay.

Dan: Like it.

Cris: also I'm not really sure. What vagrancy is that like homeless,

like

Reegs: Homelessness, yeah.

Cris: yeah okay yeah, don't worry about

Sidey: Stuff Dan does all the

time.

Dan: I would not get the chance.

Sidey: race. Yeah.

Reegs: Extra was a sort of 1982 horror.

It was one of those that was made in the wake of Alien and so it was like a weird HR Geiger. Did you

Dan: you watch this?

Reegs: Yeah, I've seen it. It's on I think it's like permanently on Amazon

Dan: Amazon Prime.

Reegs: This one's got a really normal storyline.

Dan: line. I love it that you get round to watching these films. It's

Reegs: seen a lot of horror

Dan: Yeah. Yeah, it's just But when they've tried it, Off the back of an alien you guess what's coming it, they're jumping on that bandwagon.

Wow.

Reegs: This one, it was a

Dan: puppet out. The stock room slimed up

Reegs: a bit famous because it was a bit culty. It was,

Dan: Yeah. Yeah. They

Reegs: hated it.

One starred it, but it's got this great special effects and creature work in this really fucking bizarre storyline where your dad's abducted and then comes back and eats your pet snake and all sorts of stuff. So extra caught like a bit like ET, but more telepathy and intestines.

Cris: Wow sounds amazing that

Sidey: X marks the Spot,

you have that

big X in the library scene in Last Crusade. Indiana Jones.

but

another ex girlfriend. I'm

a big

fan of Forrest Gump.

Cris: Yes.

It's a

great movie.

Sidey: Jenny. They

fuck and she goes off And dies

Dan: he explodes.

Sidey: dies of AIDS for living a life of I don't know,

alternative, lifestyle whereas

he prospers and does well from being a nice conformist great message. And yes she is his

  1. She just comes back when.

she really needs to dish the kid off.

isn't she?

Yeah, what a piece of shit that film is

Cris: great. I love it. I love it.

Dan: did you ever see a film with Brian Brown in called FX?

Reegs: Yes The Master of Illusion or something

Dan: that's

Reegs: there was a sequel as

Dan: gotta use his special effect, the FX2, yeah. That he's gotta use his special effect skills to try to, I think it's something to do with a gangster and he had to cover up for him or, Or set him up or some such thing.

Cliff the young was in it as well. We love cliff you had angela bassett also was part of the cast as a tv reporter not a huge part. And brian, Denny yeah, he's in it as well. And I used to Enjoy this actually and now i've seen it and said it I might even go try and hunt this one down or I think epics 2 was Brian Brown was in Cocktails with Tom Cruise.

He was the mentor, wasn't he? So he was already really cool by the time he'd done

Sidey: don't know if FX is going to have aged that

well.

Dan: No! It's gonna be shit! But it would be nice to check it

Cris: he just loves

Dan: just how bad it is. And it has another X

Sidey: Go for

Cris: Wow. Okay. Slightly different, but I have the Legio X, which is the 10th legion of the Roman army, which is the most famous legion of the Roman army which was famous in its day because it's a, it's portrayal in Caesars commentaries.

So it's one of the few legions that got a comment by one of the

Sidey: The big guy, which, yeah.

Cris: and they had the biggest role in the Gaelic campaigns. The 10th Roman legion and obviously X is 10 in Roman numbers. The soldiers were discharged in 45 BC and the remnants were reconstituted, fought for Mark Antony and Octavian, disbanded, and then later merged into X Gemina.

But it's got a really interesting story and Legio X Equestris. It's got its own page on Wikipedia.

So

if anyone wants to know more about the 10th legion of the Roman army, there it is.

Sidey: Were they in a movie?

Cris: There was the Spartacus. He was part of a cohort of the 10th Legion, but he

Sidey: cool. in it. yeah,

Cris: he doesn't get mentioned, but in the movie, the original movie Spartacus with Kirk Douglas, not anything else that not the one that was like really sexy,

like the series.

Reegs: I never watched it, but I know the one you

Cris: It was meant to be really sexy the series. I've never watched it, but

Reegs: Oh, is it?

What about X Wings?

Sidey: Yeah.

Reegs: Pretty X y. It's right there. They lock attack foils to S position

Sidey: Shields to double front when they do the attack run on their star.

Reegs: Yeah.

Cris: What what is that?

Sidey: Star Wars.

Reegs: Luke Skywalker and then latterly Poe Dameron had a black one lol. And what about Ex Machina? That's got an X in it. And that had also Oscar Isaac doing a really sexy dance and

Sidey: he's played Dameron as well.

Reegs: yeah.

Oh, there you go. That's

Sidey: Good segue.

Reegs: about it. Yeah. And has him figuring out what to do with AI, which is to fuck

Sidey: it. Yeah.

it's

the answer to everything. surely.

One that's close to our heart is Professor X because Dan looks,

Dan: I've got,

Reegs: you listeners won't know this, but he sits in a chair that vaguely resembles Professor X's wheelchair from

Sidey: And Malcolm X, two very

Dan: Oh, that was my next one.

Sidey: Yeah. they were,

Dan: Malcolm X with the Denzel film. It's a

Sidey: spiky joint. It's not a film. It's a spiky joint, yeah, but it's a Denzel. yeah.

Oscar winner?

Or not? I can't

Cris: I think so. I think so.

Sidey: But it's definitely a film. I'm certain

Dan: sure, but I think it was pretty received through Denzel's performance.

I don't know whether he won an Oscar

Sidey: let's say that. Yeah. Okay. My next one's gonna be my norm.

Dan: We

Cris: Dan. One Sorry. Sorry,

Dan: The sound of

Cris: No, I just don't want to,

Sidey: welcome.

Dan: Um,

You've got obviously got the matrix with an X at the ends, but we're really wedging X's in there. The Mexican no, we're not having any of those. Then I'm running out. If you want to swing around and add in another one. Malcolm X

Cris: what is that? Is that

Dan: got an

Sidey: a word that has the letter X in it.

Cris: I

Dan: You said X marks a spot in Indiana Jones and we've

Sidey: Yes, because there was a massive plot point. of the

Reegs: massive plot point at the beginning. I'm sorry, I had Malcolm X

Cris: Oh yeah sorry, I had Malcolm X as well with

Dan: we all had Malcolm X.

Cris: Also, Saw X is a movie.

Reegs: Also, I saw X in the movie.

Cris: Perfect because I've never watched it, but obviously I had to look for X, like Xs and something to do with movies. I've watched a lot of X rated movies, but I won't be able to tell you. I have to say though, I know this might sound offensive so you might edit this one out, but one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life was the Snow White, the porn version, where this girl gets, Fucked by dwarves basically, and the, which I thought was the sequel.

I was probably about 12 when I watched this. Midgets with big dicks. It's amazing.

Sidey: Is that just

by perspective?

that they're big

Cris: Yeah,

It's not a sexy film.

Reegs: No. He is talking about the

Sidey: Do their dicks look big just because they are small? I don't know.

Cris: don't know, they look big. I don't know how, I didn't measure it. I wasn't in the room.

Reegs: It's how you'd have to do it

really,

Cris: I wasn't

Sidey: measure yeah. Girth and

Cris: But that's, yeah, I dunno. But yeah, saw X, which is that I keep getting confused with the saw. I've seen a trailer for another one coming out and,

Sidey: there's a prequel, that

Reegs: Sorry. It's set between them. Saw X is, I think, set between the first and second movies,

Sidey: cool. Did you hear it?

It burped right when you

were in, in mid flow. Sorry,

Cris: couldn't help it, sorry.

Sidey: I'm just gonna nominate

I'm torn

between

something with

lots of X's. No, it's, remember that one. I'm gonna put in Stacey, who is Wayne's ex in Wayne's

world movie

she first appears when they're in the cafe. and She's bought him a gun rack and then later on when garth and wayne are playing hockey in the street and she waves at him and just fucking slams into a Car and goes over the handlebars She's played by Larry Flynn Boyles and Twin Peaks. So extra kudos for that.

I was thinking about

Scott Pilgrim's Seven Evil exes, but i'm sticking with Wayne's

Dan: I like that. Yeah. Yeah. As you are not putting it in, I won Eva. I will go for instead, American History X, which I do remember having an X in it.

Cris: Yeah, that sounds good. I will say Stephen Fry x cons, just have a laugh. Does that, can I take that? Yes. Yeah, thank you.

Dan: Excellent

Reegs: And I'm putting in all of the X Men films, comics, and

Sidey: The whole Cannon series,

Reegs: all of

Cris: Yeah,

Sidey: nice.

Reegs: Yeah.

Sidey: Triple X. It's three times the amount of X.

Dan: It is loads of X.

Reegs: And this was the third in a sort of film series that never really got off the ground despite having three movies. Have you seen any of them

Dan: No.

Sidey: No. I jumped in At

Cris: Oh, the first one I've seen. The first one.

Sidey: So the first one is Vin

Diesel, and the second one is Ice

Cube. Yes.

Cris: Yes.

Reegs: Vin Diesel is explicitly killed in a short that's on the DVD extras for the second movie, so his character is killed between movies, but then resurrected for

Sidey: Yeah, he was just, like, skateboarding

in Brazil or something. Yeah.

Dan: Yeah.

and from there,

Sidey: We start off with, first of

Dan: as well be breakdancing at the Olympics.

Sidey: all, we get a little glimpse of the satellite, don't we? And That's what's going to be the weapon of choice in this movie. But that is

Alongside

Samuel L. Jackson is character Gibbons trying to recruit Namar Jr. Yeah. to

be the next triple

  1. That's right. But there are lots of Triple X's as we'll find

Reegs: we'll find a

Dan: I feel sick about talking about this film, but let's keep going and let's power on

Sidey: but what happens is, someone has created a mcg, So the film is just a chase after a McGuffin.

Reegs: Yeah, there's actually two

Sidey: Yeah, So The original McGuffin that they think, is a small piece of hardware that can override all kinds of

security things and they're using it to drag

satellites outta the sky and use 'em as like massive

Dan: That's it's the cheat sheet to every computer in the world you just need to press two buttons and it will crash or

Sidey: yeah,

Dan: Do

Reegs: It can intercept any communications, but it is solely used for crashing satellites into things in this movie. So yeah, the McMuffin hunt is on. Tony Collette is a great actor and she's fulfilling the role of,

Sidey: a

Reegs: lifetime.

Yeah. As Markle, she's the head of the NSA, the sort of replacement for Gibbons. And she's talking about the McMuffin and suddenly Donnie Yen and his team break in

Sidey: The first girl that we see, cuz there's a,

There's another guy in the CA who walks

into

the office,

and so

we meet the team, and the first girl, she's a Bollywood actress.

Yeah.

Dan: Name?

Sidey: Padukone?

Reegs: that's

good.

Sidey: good. Her role in this is to

do the splits

and keep the door open. There's just nothing else. So there's nothing else. Donnie Yen comes in and does some great fighting across

the boardroom table. Kills loads of people. Loads.

Let's just

be explicit about this. He kills

fucking loads of people.

Yes,

Reegs: this. He kills fucking loads of people.

Dan: even when the camera stopped rolling, he was still killing people after this.

This was just one of those films

Sidey: and they show us

pools of blood on the floor.

So we know. We fucking know people

have

Dan: gone full

Sidey: and They have

recruited, there's another guy who's the thug, and then there's

Reegs: It's Michael Bispin, who's a UFC

Cris: fighter, yeah.

Sidey: And there's also Tony Jar Who gets to

Ride a motorcycle.

Dan: And I'd kick both their asses if they were here now. Which is why they're not

Reegs: Yeah, agreed. So they get away with Pandora's box and Tony Collette says we need someone who can walk into a tornado and come out the other side like it's a damn gentle breeze.

And there is only one man for that job. It's and we're introduced to him climbing a radio tower so that he can pirate a

Dan: a football game, namar might

Sidey: that's but it's like a joke, isn't it? Because we don't know what he's doing. He just he sets himself DEFCON 10, 10 minutes

and he

goes up this tower, he takes the thing, and then

he puts skis

on.

And skis down a

snowless mountain.

It's a

Reegs: He jumps straight down the tower. It's gotta be about 80 meters. You break both legs straight away. But anyway, he doesn't

Dan: he's done, he's just caught the curve. It's like one of those huge

Sidey: Like a ski jumper.

Dan: but the yes, ski jump or a flume or something, which is comes down.

Reegs: I talked about it in one of the,

Dan: so you can

Reegs: other top

Dan: so that's definitely not too far fetched.

Reegs: And he skids to a halt and he is a bunch of impoverished Latin American children. Hand him a triple X branded skateboard so he can then zoom down the road giving people high

Sidey: Bear in mind

Dan: they, all kind of

Sidey: all clap him. They all say his name. he's supposed to

be

Reegs: in hiding. He's in hiding. Yeah, I know. It's triple X branded skateboard.

Sidey: Get some cool skateboarding stuff where he goes down the

Reegs: it's really cool as well. The

Sidey: He's going a billion miles an hour and he

Dan: like, you can tell 'cause there's flames

Sidey: He does wall rides off cars and skids through and three sixties and all kinds of

Dan: comes off a bus at one point,

Sidey: get To

a

thing and he runs through a crowd. I think

there was even people with guns there.

Dan: 5, 4, 3

Sidey: plugs the thing in and the two. football comes on and everyone

cheers, and all he's been doing this whole

time.

Not some super secret covert mission

Reegs: getting IPTV for the,

Dan: And some little kid comes up to me and says, oh, I knew you'd Fiig

Sidey: Yeah, so that's the level.

Reegs: And his gorgeous girlfriend thanks him for it, and shags him, invites him for a shag. This is a 12, so it's only implied. And I think he thanks her by leaving her the skateboard in the morning when he goes off, which is

Sidey: with this Post it saying don't fall off.

Reegs: Yeah.

Sidey: Top tip

Reegs: So then

Sidey: recruited in, he

goes after that first Jackie's just recruited back in.

there's a whole thing, Robert, set up, to be a bomb, and he knows what's

going on, because the guy knew he spoke English, even though they weren't in an English speaking country

Reegs: He fires that machine gun at the crowd of people, yeah.

Sidey: he's

recruited back in, and forced to work with these

guys, but he's no, the air to military for me, I need some

Reegs: I need my

Sidey: sports

Reegs: Yeah.

Sidey: To

Reegs: To be

fair though, they do introduce you. And I did all of their introductions pretty much straight away because they get, what's her name?

Ruby Rose. And

Sidey: yeah,

Reegs: she's got like dyed green hair and she's introduced a couple of big game hunting and she's starting to shoot them and get letting them get ravaged by the lions. So I was like instantly. Okay. She's

Sidey: Okay. She's great.

Dan: Yeah. The lion starts getting a sniff, doesn't it? And you see these tourists

Sidey: some screams in the back

Dan: running off. Yeah.

Reegs: And the mountain from Game of

Sidey: No,

it's the

Hound.

Reegs: Oh, the hound, sorry. From Game of Thrones.

Dan: yeah, little montages. They all get together and,

Sidey: He's famous.

Reegs: there, there is one. I wanted to talk about the fucking absolute douche bag. Canadian rapper who was also a serial rapist. It turns out, you were saying earlier about,

Sidey: so he just called Nick or

Reegs: Yeah.

Sidey: He just seemed to be there to dj.

Reegs: Yeah. Yeah.

Dan: Get the party

Sidey: That's

what it is. That's because they especially was She was like an absolute incredible marks person. The Hound was

a

stunt driver.

Reegs: Chasing 200

Sidey: crashed a million cars.

And he was

a

DJ.

Reegs: yeah, I know.

Dan: Yeah.

He could get, which, which at one point when they were all after X in a nightclub, he just managed to get people to rush onto the floor and it allowed him to, yeah. Steal a few more seconds and get

Sidey: and get

Reegs: He

gets rid of his existing crew by they're all like taunting him They call it. Oh here comes red bull or whatever they call him and then he just yeah, he has them thrown out the back of it

Sidey: Yeah,

so we're gonna go

meet the bad guys and it turns out

there's a bit of dissension in the ranks because They, although we don't know it

yet their original goal was to steal the MacGuffin and destroy it.

So no one could have it. And now

donnie Yen's no fuck that Now we've got it.

I want to use it. Yeah

or at least

Pretend to use it.

Reegs: it was never really clear what Donnie Yen's plan was, but it was, there was something different going. The thing is, it's this part is all happening during a game where they're throwing grenades at each other across the table. Yeah, they

Dan: and as you say, they're playing like a Mexican standoff Russian roulette game with grenades where they just cover the pin and then throw it to each other. And the other one covers the pin and nobody makes a mistake and everything's really cool. Chris, have you fallen asleep by this point

Cris: Oh, I didn't even see

Dan: didn't even get

Sidey: there?

Chris really

Cris: I I, told you I was, I just didn't have enough

Dan: No you've done yourself a favor on this one, I think because,

Sidey: now there's some really cool, there's a great fight sequence where Triple X uses the motorcycle to kick people and jump over people

and ram into people.

Yeah. Because

Reegs: then it's at night scene's happening and then Donnie Yen escapes, Shang, I think his name is, he escapes on a motorbike gets to the water, it turns instantly to day and then

Sidey: then the motorbike becomes

Yeah.

Reegs: and he races across the water through a half pipe and Vin Diesel's stunt double comes up and down the water a few times.

Dan: VIN Diesel finds the the same kind of. Switch to turn his motorbike into a jet ski as well from the bike. He's just

Reegs: stolen it. Yeah, he's just stolen it. He

Dan: knows where that switch is and Because he's just had so many of these bikes

Sidey: But it's

extreme, he's just, he's a

natural with these sorts of

Dan: he was triple x let's be honest

Sidey: and

Reegs: Serena destroys it. She shoots it in his hand.

Dan: Yeah.

Reegs: So that's it. But straight away there's been another character. We haven't talked about Becky. She's like the nerd analyst

Sidey: She's wearing glasses. she's

Reegs: wearing glasses and within 30 seconds of meeting Vin Diesel, she's told him a sexual safe word. Cause he's that irresistible.

Dan: I liked her but she yeah, that's it.

It implies that vin

Sidey: He's fucked about I dunno, seven or eight women in the first scene where he's undercover, he goes to go to an

orgy

Dan: doing something for his country. Yeah.

Sidey: Which I'm sure James Bonder said

before.

Reegs: A but anyway, she tells him that actually, no, the McMuffin's been used again,

Sidey: Russia. Russia

Dan: mean the McMuffin we had wasn't the real McMuffin?

No, it was a prototype. No, there was a prototype McMuffin. And so the girl is still out there. And so when you think you've got, To the end of the film and you have they're just gonna play it up again so they can destroy it

Reegs: there's still many twists.

Sidey: because Serena is recruited into the

team.

Dan: This

Reegs: This is where it all emerges that they're actually another triple

Sidey: triple X's, yeah.

Reegs: He was recruited by Gibbons. He tells him the same story about, I don't know, what was it being felt up in the cinema or something? I don't know what it was. They had

Sidey: they figure out. And

Tristram, whatever his name is,

the hound's and he's oh, there's always some blah, blah, blah.

And So they go back and they say we

need to watch the footage of

the original Xiang retrieving

the MacGuffin. And they watch it back, and Zandacade's look, when he drops to the window, one of the people around the table doesn't flinch at all. And one of that guy

isn't Tony Collette, but it's the only other person we meet around the table.

is

Running the show.

He is the one who's got the MacGuffin. And they say he's up against this tower. And so it's a race for Zhang to get there, because he wants it for himself. And XXX and the crew to get there to retrieve it and destroy it.

So it's like a tripartite thing going

Reegs: So we've had all these exotic locations, the Philippines and Dominican Republic and all that. Now we're going to Detroit.

Sidey: Yeah, Let me see.

Reegs: Yeah.

Dan: Yeah, back in the motor city.

Reegs: that's where the climax does play out. Vin Diesel. So they skirt over this, but he's got access to this massive plane with all this kind of technology and it's

Sidey: It's the Avengers, wasn't it? It was just the thingies.

Reegs: Yeah, I mean they even explicitly referenced the Vengeance. Is it at the end where

Sidey: Yeah.

Dan: he's also got access to loads of wife beaters. He's just always got some kind of

Reegs: You did that look for maybe a couple of weeks, didn't you? Yeah,

Dan: yeah. Like Vin, I can pull it off if needed.

Sidey: So

there's a race, there's a race

then through Detroit to get up to this tower at the top of some shitty tower,

where he's about to pull another

satellite

down.

And they start

to collaborate, Yang and

Vin Diesel to murder one

of the guards they. Work

And you can see that he's being brought back into the fold.

Reegs: They

make that guy discharge his weapon enough times

Sidey: to, yeah, Yeah. They, as he's firing it, they can tell what gun it is, For how many shots would be in the clip.

All that stuff. So they do that.

Reegs: And then when they get up there, the villain starts to do his monologue. He's put himself in a heat proof room or put the heaters up so a thermal imaging camera doesn't work very well. And Ruby Rose, this great sharpshooter, she's outside but she hasn't got a shot, she can't

Dan: can't.

She's a million miles away. She needs the thermal imaging.

Sidey: Finn

has been telling her,

read between the lines, read between the lines, and when he's Confronted by the guy and he's got him at gunpoint. He puts his hands on his head but in

a sort of unusual way.

Dan: it's like

Sidey: like a, doing a boy

Dan: yeah, he's got three fingers together. He folds back the middle

Sidey: she goes, Oh,

Dan: a gap of no more than a bullet. And he, it's not perfect because there's a little nick on his, he just goes, it must have been like Trump's ear or something.

He's just caught the very outside of it, he

Sidey: yeah.

Reegs: one of the things I really enjoyed about this scene is that bit is all happening whilst the villain is giving his big monologue about why he's doing any of this stuff. Even the movie doesn't really care.

Sidey: At this point my missus came in the room

and just started hoovering and

it made, I couldn't hear it, it made No fucking difference.

to the

Dan: you turn that hoover up?

Reegs: She so yeah, the, his motivation was he hated Gibbons or something, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Anyway Tony Collette comes in brilliant. Well done. Take everybody into custody or whatever. And I'm going to take the

Sidey: she

takes The MacGuffin.

Reegs: going to take the McGuffin and off the, Vin is taken up with Shang.

Sidey: Yeah yeah, they're taken she just Goes fully

rogue and it turns out that the whole of the CIA seems to be hell bent on destruction.

Reegs: Yeah.

Sidey: For

reasons.

Reegs: She also wants to control the technology, it's the same thing again, yeah but.

She's

Dan: all chaos and

Sidey: xander Cage, in front of xiang who's handcuffed to

the side

of the plane.

Yeah. On the inside, I should say.

Reegs: But it turns out he was wearing the body armour that was sexily put on by Becky.

Yeah. It all builds to a big action climax again. It's one that's taking place in two places as well, the old,

Sidey: We've got one on the plane.

Reegs: Effect. And in the plane he has to beat up a guy with, who's got these electric

Sidey: Yeah, it's Tony Stark in it. Yeah.

it's like x Men, exo armor kind of thing

Reegs: But there is quite a good sequence where they shoot the pilot and it goes into kind of zero gravity.

Sidey: the vomit comet isn't it?

Reegs: And that's when he has the advantage because he's an extreme sports guy. So that's when the tables really turn for him. He's able to dispatch most of the guys. And down on the ground, some other shit's happening as well. Oh, well down on

Sidey: there's a million, billion endless enemies come into this,

Unused factory or wherever, where

they're trying to hide out.

And they're holding their own but until their ammo runs out and they're just

overrun by all these people. And it's like the end of Blackadder

goes forth where they're about to go over

the top, and all they've got is two knives, I think, between the

six of And they're just about to charge and be fucking horribly cut down Bye. automatic gunfire.

And there's a huge explosion.

It's Fucking Ice Cube. isn't it? Darius

Reegs: stone,

I

Dan: Yeah, who hadn't been in the film the whole time. You didn't know that

Reegs: He was

Sidey: no one dialed nine

Reegs: He was in the second film, He

Sidey: said if you need help,

Dial nine. And he said, I've

been waiting for fucking ages for

someone to dial nine

Reegs: So he shows up just grenade

Dan: anyone dial 9?

Reegs: Yeah, she did. Ser

Sidey: the nerd. I think it was The nerd.

And he says, rock, paper,

scissors,

rock. Grenade launcher.

Reegs: Yeah, it's brilliant. Yeah,

Sidey: Yeah,

Reegs: he takes everybody down. Meanwhile the, a satellite has been launched. And the only way to take it down is for Vin to kamikaze his plane into

it.

Sidey: get this line?

He goes, I'm

going to have to kamikaze take it out.

And they go, no,

that's suicide.

Dan: suicide. And

Reegs: Anyway, he

Sidey: says I live for this shit.

and he points the plane and perfectly gets the right trajectory and runs out the back. and jumps out of the plane

with no parachute.

Reegs: parachutes. That was so cool that because the camera follows him as he gets out the cockpit and he runs through the length of this ship and jumps out and straight onto the like cargo

Dan: There's, yeah, there's some cargo that's got a chute that hasn't been, of course, given out yet.

Sidey: We know he can survive billion foot falls because he did it right at the start of the film

Dan: on it. Yeah, and he makes another one here.

Reegs: Yeah.

And

he

does. And they're

Dan: walks through this big dust pool, isn't there?

Yeah. And of course you can just hear his voice and he's what did you expect? I'm the

Reegs: I know he says, I think he was like, I hope you got it on camera, which I did see a I was watching one of those like X games, whatever it was people doing on those sand dunes. Yeah, do it with those motorbikes and a guy does a jump is so insane and he just completely smashes it out and he like goes this horrible tumbling tumbling and the camera crew run over to him and they're like, what gear were you in the guys like line?

They're all crumpled. That is the spirit of these guys. I guess

Sidey: IceCube turns up

in some

flash motor and he's Oh, we are going to go. all fast and furious on it.

And he even comments Oh, that's a nice ride. you've

Dan: I've just been keeping it for you. Oh my God.

Reegs: And he was like honoured to meet the legend that was Xander Cage. Because basically everybody in

Dan: honoured to watch, yeah.

Sidey: as good, they're not, they're probably only two and a half X's. Yeah, He's

Reegs: he's

Dan: Yeah and all the girls are just throwing themselves at him.

Sidey: We've got a funeral to

Reegs: a funeral to get, just to get the funeral out of the way,

Sidey: Samuel's funeral. Some gospels and

It's all very sad.

So no one really seems

to be that sad.

Reegs: Hound is He

Sidey: along a little bit. Yeah, Yeah. And, Xander's watching it from,

On his own, there's no one else up At the

Reegs: He knew.

Sidey: Yeah. And Samuel

walks in, and says, Oh, it's a bit surreal being at your own funeral.

And

somehow,

Dan: would have thunk it?

Sidey: Didn't die from

Reegs: He faked his own death to lure out the original guy who then lured out Markle.

It

Dan: Markle. You can only imagine the cafe that he and Neymar were in right at the beginning that was taken apart by flames.

Had some kind of safe room in

Sidey: yeah. So Namar must be now Triple X as well.

Reegs: to team up now, yeah to make a sequel that will

Dan: Doesn't Neymar do some football skills

Sidey: right at the very start. No, it's right at the

Dan: At the start,

Sidey: stops the robber with a,

Reegs: And we get a shot of Samuel L. Jackson's glasses tinted on one side. So it looks

Sidey: Nick Fury

Reegs: an eye patch.

Sidey: eye patch.

Yeah, that was a bit weird.

What do you think, Dan? Did you enjoy this one?

Dan: I, I avoided one and two for a reason. So to jump right in at three with an extra couple of X's, that's what I needed, to make it any kind of impression.

I could have illegally streamed this, but I could have rented it. But I went and bought this because it was only another 50 P more. I want that 50 P back.

Reegs: you want

Sidey: think I

Dan: I don't think I

Reegs: two after seeing this

Dan: Wow. Wow. It's the kind of shit that in the midweek, we talked about David Cronenberg's film existence, and it really didn't make very much money, although it was a much better film.

braver attempt at actually trying to say something in a film and trying to move on with a plot and you know Whereas this didn't but it's shit. That's probably made a ton load of money.

Sidey: Asking me?

Dan: We'll get around to it i'm sure but for me it was just You know one confused action scene after another one in part and I know what you get is firmly tongue is in You Cheek for these ones.

You can't take it. Seriously. You can't say that wouldn't or half the fun is doing that I guess it's probably a film. I would have enjoyed Watching more with people that really like these films, but I didn't do that

Sidey: Enjoy it

Reegs: more than Dan, I think if this is all done a lot better in the fast and furious but there is a few touches that I do enjoy the pro piracy stance, the big international cast, this is a 12 certificate movie and it is made for a, a world where Xander Cage is really cool and it's sometimes had some good action sequences and sometimes had a good bit of humor.

So it was all

right. It was

Dan: Yeah, for a twelve, there's only so much you can get away with, not a huge Vin Diesel fan. What about you, Chris?

Cris: I've seen the first one, and that's the only one I've seen, so you can imagine what impression the first one did on me if I've never watched it.

With some of the things that you say in Neymar all that, I'm pretty sure I've seen this. Anyway, I just can't remember anything of it. So it's

I'm

Dan: seeing the first triple X and after seeing the

Cris: after seeing the first triple X and after seeing the first two or maybe three of the Fast and Furious I'm done with Vin Diesel.

Dan: The voice, the whole

Cris: the whole thing is he always has the same role, the same

Sidey: I think of all those kind of action hero guys, he's

to

me, this seems like a bit of a

douche

Dan: a .

Reegs: I'd like that about him though. He's got that sort of nerdiness, he's not a chisel j he's a sort of strange looking fella in main way

Sidey: I don't mean that, I mean it,

Reegs: no, but just in general.

And he's got, he's quite dorky and but he's, he brings together those like really diverse casts and stuff, which, that's what's really different I think. Something

Sidey: Thought that this Was great.

I really enjoyed it?

Dan: Yeah.

yeah.

Sidey: It's just, it could be a re badged Fast and Furious. and I like all of those it's that it's not as good

Cris: Was it, were you happy with the length of it though?

Sidey: Yeah, two hours

Reegs: 146, not too bad.

Sidey: I watched it yesterday, it was like half the back of three days on the beers, so I needed something, like,

Dan: days on the beers, so I needed something dark. Well, I did, I double

Sidey: I did, I double headed it, I did this, then I exited right, back to back. I enjoyed them both. Nina Dobrev's really

hot

in it, so is Ruby

Rose. She

was Batgirl in that film, that got cancelled,

Reegs: Just shelved for tax

Sidey: Yeah.

Dan: Not a shortage of hot girls in

Sidey: Yeah. Hot guys as well. Donnie Yen. Donnie Yen's just really fucking Cool. Yeah, he's really

fucking cool. Tony Jaa I thought was a bit criminally underused in this. It does a few motorbike scenes in a couple of it basically does, do your on back thing where he just runs a bit and jumps and you're like.

oh, did it better in the other film. It

cost 85 million.

Dan: Wow. Wow. They've been in the Dominican. They went off. It was on location in a few different

areas. I

reckon this is made money. I reckon this is, I reckon this will be triple figures for triple X.

Cris: I don't think so.

I think it probably broke even maybe I don't see it as a

Dan: think there's

Sidey: They haven't made another one.

Dan: They made another one

Sidey: they haven't

Dan: the habit. Oh, okay. Okay. I still think it's a hundred million plus.

Sidey: Add another 246, you'd be right on the money. 346 mil.

Dan: Oh, it's wrong. It's wrong.

Reegs: I don't know how many times he can really, like, how old is he now? He's got to be

Dan: you're going to

Reegs: 60,

Sidey: there's one more, One more fast film.

I just didn't like the last one

Dan: too. There's 250 million reasons there, profit, that will give you a reason to do another one.

Cris: Wow, I didn't expect that. I

Dan: that. No, I didn't that's a surprising

Cris: It's got a good cast though, people that you would

Dan: really Even 85 million, I would have been a bit nervous saying we've just blown 85 million in this, when they're just showing the first screening between them going, Marketing, can you get over here please?

Can you push this?

Sidey: No, this is a win. This is a strong

Dan: appears that way. Yeah, strong recommend. There you go.

Reegs: My laptop died.

Sidey: All right. X Men 97.

Had anyone seen X Men 1 through 96

We were doing, So

this is obviously there was the

original, this is animated, right? So there was the other animated X Men

Dan: Men

Sidey: cartoon. This is not a reboot,

but like a kind of, I don't know.

Reegs: It's a continuation. I think of that

Sidey: story but a long way

Dan: What year was

Sidey: it's Now, 2024. watched

Dan: earlier is brand new.

Because it has that dated mask

Sidey: it to look exactly like the other

Dan: Yeah, they've done it well. Because it

Reegs: They've zhuzhed it up in some

Sidey: It, yeah, it's it's slightly more finesse.

but essentially if you'd look at the two, you'd recognize them

both

Dan: little bit of zhuzhing is fine, but I like that animation. I like the the way that the characters you recognize him from

Reegs: It's based on Jim Lee's, I think, drawing of the X-Men. So it's based on an actual

Dan: Jim knew what he was

doing. Yeah.

Sidey: And there's a shot in this that's straight out of the comic books.

Yeah. This

is season one episode two and the reason for that is because

I'd seen

one a while back I need an excuse to get back to

it and watch season Episode two. So that's what we did and just

Reegs: talk about them briefly as a pair though, because it sets it up, right? You could just talk about the world. Charles Xavier is dead assassinated by the NSA or believed to be.

And Scott Summers is briefly put in charge anyway, at the beginning of season. Yeah there's a sort of subplot where the, what are they friends of humanity or something? They're like a human group, pro human, anti mutant trying Capture mutants that are coming out. Anyway, that story bubbles under, but at the end of it, you get this big, shocking revelation that in his will, Charles Xavier has left the Avenger, not the Avengers, the X Men mansion and the leadership of the X Men to Magneto, which is where

this episode picks up with Magneto in charge.

Dan: This is just like an animated the boys, isn't it?

If they from the outside, you've

Sidey: got it's not violent

Dan: the mutant kind of population and the human population trying to live together.

Reegs: X Men stuff has always been more, it has been about social issues like, it's been about race in the past or sexuality and that sort of stuff.

There's always been that kind of.

Dan: It did have that

Reegs: Yeah, they have some kind

Dan: Yeah, they have some kind of adult themes. We've got one of the characters is pregnant and you're going to see her grimacing

and

pushing later on, aren't you? It's not the usual kids cartoon stuff that you get in here.

Sidey: Magneto is a villain. And in this, he's put in charge of the heroes, but at the same time he is then summoned

to go and answer for his crimes. Previous crimes. Which, from his point

of view has always been about defending mutants against the hatred of

the

humans

Reegs: Yeah, his cause has always been quite easy to identify with, even as a villain, right?

That's what makes the X Men interesting, because you don't necessarily disagree with Magneto as a, as you just, maybe the means to what he's doing. So yeah.

Sidey: but yeah, like I said, there's these friends of humans, and they're motivated to

attack on the, at the day of the trial. There's a guy called Executioner, He's got like a

mutant power zapping gun

which he has targeted on Magneto, as Magneto is giving his

big speech to the judge or whatever.

And Storm sacrifices herself, by flying in

front of the energy beam.

which

Dan: beam, which is basically a goal that will take away all your

Sidey: superpowers. A Yeah,

you should change your

Dan: She's changed her name to, from Storm to Aurora, and just goes in their civvies, gets on the bus and pisses off a little bit later on.

Sidey: All the while Gene Gray and Scott have their baby.

Yeah.

they call it Nathan for some reason. it's

Dan: got his eyes. Which is a weird call because he's just got a lazy beam, one red beam.

Sidey: And it's,

It's to be continued, Storm Leaves so that, this

did happen in the comic

books.

I think she went for 40 issues of the comic without her powers.

This, the shot of the, there's a bit in here where Magneto stood looking at the, thing that was the cover of X Men. 200. So

Reegs: it's, yeah. A lot of stuff and several of the stories are like bolted together here nicely.

Dan: Magneto kind of rips the judge and the jury up into space where they're all freezing cold.

He's also got the villain who's

had

Sidey: the executioner.

Dan: the executioner there, pinned to what is a big seal of the USA or something on the and he's I know stuck in there with his

Reegs: there with his superpowers. Yeah, he's got his

Dan: Yeah he's got his face his foot over the executioner's face and saying I could smite you here and I could get all this lot as well but i'm trying to and so I'm not going to do that.

He has taken them on the edge of the, of orbit,

Sidey: I say he's broken quite a few laws.

Dan: they're freezing cold up there. They're looking down at space. He's saying, I come here to reflect on how wonderful earth is. They're freezing cold, probably struggling for air

Sidey: Fucking terrified. I'd imagine. But he's, yeah, he's

a

Dan: all is forgiven. All

Sidey: they're like, okay. He's don't fucking be pricks and make me come back and kill you.

And they're like, okay, we'll let you,

Dan: Oh yeah.

Reegs: yeah. And better than that, they give him Genosha, is it? The the island. And he's Band of subterranean freaks will go and live there with him.

Dan: That's right. He's got status, isn't he?

Reegs: Yeah. They've got like a political position. Yeah. It's all there are a few threads that start there's gambits, jealous of rogue and magneto's fledgling relationship. There's Nate.

Sidey: into older dudes 'cause he's,

he is real silver fox, isn't

Reegs: Yeah. Oh, he was horny though. But quite shockingly at the end of the episode, as they're all dealing with the fallout of Aurora walking away for 40 issues, like you said Jean Grey, another version of her, is going to turn up at the house and ring the

Cris: I

did not see that coming.

Sidey: No, I didn't either.

Dan: And then this is a cartoon that will pick up that kind of ending at the beginning of the

Reegs: it has the music.

Sidey: music. It's a

yeah, it's a continuous one.

This isn't a reset

button. This is

a continuous story.

Dan: We are right at the beginning of what could be a, a. Beautiful,

Sidey: really good

Dan: A beautiful relationship. 'cause we've got another,

15, 20

Sidey: I think there's ten. I think it's ten episodes. but there's a season.

There will be a season two

I'm told um

Reegs: this is strong and it features so enough. Like homages and recreations of the past, but not in an irritating way at all.

Really good plotting adult themes that you were talking about.

Dan: But not too

Reegs: All the old car cast as well. Back again, doing

Sidey: Yeah, Rogue's super horny as

well, isn't

Dan: beast is there. Yeah, a lot like this a lot actually.

As far as cartoons that cross the barriers over from kids to maybe their dads and things. This is a one that I would put right at the top. I think

Reegs: I always think the X Men are like way more interesting than the Avengers. Like their issues are interesting, their power sets are more varied and interesting,

Dan: And the plot lines are a lot more going on as well. Strong recommend for me.

Sidey: Yeah,

Cris: yes.

Sidey: That's the

end of x. Week. I know, everything comes to an end at some point.

Dan: Have we mentioned x at all because there's loads going on there our twitter thing we've got discord if people want to connect to us

Sidey: we?

don't use X because it's cesspit.

Reegs: see,

it's awful. Isn't it?

Dan: We do have a Count on there though,

Sidey: We do. I literally just post the link to this.

Reegs: read it if you ever post it, stuff on there.

Sidey: Discord

Dan: It is where it's at.

Sidey: Yeah. Be More active. on there. I think it's you re to nominate

Reegs: I'll sort

Sidey: We'll get out.

We'll get that

Dan: Okay. We are

on it. Yeah. Can't wait for the next

Sidey: All that remains to say society signing out.

Reegs: Riggs has left the

Cris: left the

Dan: Dan's gone.
